WELLINGTON, March 28. A tribute to Dr. W. B. Sutch’s “remarkable abilities" in the service of New Zealand were paid by speakers at a complimentary lunch given to the Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce in Wellington by members of the Consumer and Standards Councils. Dr. Sutch retires at the end of this month.
“I have always been impressed by his great foresight —his undoubted ability to visualise what will be needed in future years.” said the chairman of the Consumer Council (Mr G. E. Wood). On behalf of the Consumer and Standards Councils, the chairman of the Standards Council (Mr J. I. King) presented Dr. Sutch with a “History of New Zealand” in three volumes by G. W. Rusden. This “rare, unexpurgated” edition was printed by Chapman and Hall Ltd., London, in 1883.
