Sockburn-Hornby Red Cross
Members had been very active in community service, the president of the Sock-burn-Hornby sub-centre of the Red Cross Society (Mrs S. Whelan) told the recent annual meeting. Drivers and helpers had delivered meals three days a week. Fifty-two pounds had been given to various Red Cross services and appeals, and 294 pots of jam and other goods had been sent to the North Canterbury centre. Officers elected were:— president, Mrs F. Neale: vicepresident, Mrs S. Whelan; secretary, Mrs D. Morgan; act-ing-secretary, Mrs A. Carson; treasurer, Mrs G. Benham; committee, Mesdames N. De Groot, B. Drayton, E. Everett, A. Barnett, L. Mooar, J. Hardaker; liaison officer (Red Cross in schools), Mrs B. Drayton.
