Helping In Community
Much community work was being done, including a Helping Hand group whose members helped care for aged people in their homes reading to blind persons, home nursing classes, and choir and drama group entertainment for pensioners, it was shown by branch reports heard at a recent meeting of the Canterbury Provincial Committee of the League of Mothers. Members have also collected good used clothing for the Save the Children Fund and this year will send the clothing to Greece. Clothing has also been sent to the House of Happiness, Italy, for the past eight years.
Now was the time to plan for peace in the world. Let the organisation be looked upon as one that really did something, said Mrs H. C. L. Pruden, who presided.
A tribute to the work done by Mrs N. G. Jenkins, who has resigned as magazine secretary, was paid by Mrs Pruden. Reports from provincial officers were received.
The combined church parade will be held in the Trinity Congregational Church on May 7. A combined party will be held on April 29. Mrs Pruden will attend the Dominion Executive meeting to be held in May.
