CLOSELY-CONTESTED SPRINT.—R. Stevenson (Burnside High School) breaking the tape in the final of the 100yds open at the secondary schools’ athletics meeting at Rugby Park on Saturday. A. Tweedie (Christchurch Boys’ High School), in the middle, was second, and C. Baker (Riccarton High School) third. In the 220yds event, the positions were reversed, Tweedie beating Stevenson.
