Lyttelton Rooms
To Be Renovated
Mrs G. Hennessy presided at the annual meeting of the Christchurch Guild of the British Sailors’ Society, held at Lyttelton recently. In her report, Mrs Hennessy said that renovations would be started very soon on clubrooms at Lyttelton and new furnishings would be required. Miss Mary Gorman presented the annual report of the junior branch. The girls were congratulated on their year’s work. Mr Frank Chennells gave a talk on shipping in the future. Officers elected were:— Patron, Mrs G. Manning; president, Mrs G. Hennessy; vicepresidents, Mesdames G. Dennistoun, M. Godby, D. W. J. Gould, W. Keetley, E. Millton, Y. Robinson, R. MacDougall, E. Porritt; secretary, Mrs P. J. Byrne; treasurer, Mrs C. W. Collins.

A JUGOSLAV woman scientist, who was exposed to atomic radiation and received a donor’s bone marrow in a Paris operation, has given birth to a healthy daughter. The woman was exposed to radiation from a research reactor in 1958.
