HOTEL WORKERS’ CONFERENCE

One of the main issues to be discussed at the annual conference of the New Zealand Hotel Workers’ Federation in Christchurch next week, will be a new award for licensed hotel workers. The secretary of the Canterbury Hotel Workers’ Union (Mr L. Short) yesterday said that about 20 delegates from 10 affiliated unions throughout New Zealand were expected to attend the conference. The staff of hotels were working extended and longer hours, he said, because of the new Sale of Liquor Act.
