Short Story Award

Entries are now being invited for the biennial Katherine Mansfield Award for a published short story. The award, sponsored by the Bank of New Zealand in association with the Women Writers’ Society, is lOOgns. This is the fourth competition for the award, now accepted as a mark of literary attainment. Previous winners include Maurice Duggan, C. K. Stead and Maurice Shadbolt.

Mount Isa Funds.—The Canterbury district council of the Federation of Labour, after discussing the Mount Isa dispute, unanimously endorsed the appeal from the federation for financial assistance. A collection which was taken will be sent to Australia.
