Sport In The Family
Miss ,A Brunskill (Waikato), who was one of the outstanding women competitors at the recent New Zealand athletic championships, is the daughter of the former Waikato Rugby representative, G. R. Brunskill. He was a regular fiveeights for the side during its tenure of the Ranfurly Shield in the early 1950’5. As a promising young athlete of exceptional potential, Miss Brunskill could well find herself in the running for the New Zealand athletics team to the Jamaica Empire Games. She was runner-up in both the 80 metres hurdles and the long jump. A week later she demonstrated her ability when she defeated the Olympian, Mrs A. McIntosh, in the 80 metres hurdles event during the North Cup contest against New South Wales.
