Red Cross Activity
Kaituna Forty-one new garments, 60 good used garments and a peggy square rug had been delivered to the North Canterbury centre of the Red Cross Society during the year, says a report from the annual meeting of the Kaituna subcentre. Books and magazines were given to the library. Assessments of £7 10s and donations totalling £3O had been made to various funds, and jam and produce had been supplied. Guest speaker at the meeting was Miss T. Eldridge, who described the activities of the Junior Red Cross and showed a collection of toys and other handcrafts. Officers elected were:— president, Mrs S. E. Patten; vice-presidents, Mesdames L. G. Cooper, A. E. Birdling. Miss B. E. Coop; secretary, Mrs M. Willis; treasurer, Miss B. E. Coop; committee, Mesdames P. de Pass, I. Humphrey, G. Cooper, A. E. Birdling, N. Marriott, E. Henderson, H. Barrett, A. Gray, G. Gray; junior liaison officers, Mesdames J. Hodson. M. Willis. Redcliffs-Mount Pleasant The Redcliffs-Mount Pleasant sub-centre held its annual meeting recently when the president (Mrs D. J. Wales) reported that several organisations had been helped with street appeals. Members had also helped with Meals on Wheels, and the Red Cross library service, visited patients at Burwood Hospital, and sent parcels to Fiji and to refugee families in Austria.
Officers elected were: president, Mrs D. J. Wales; vicepresidents, Mesdames W. Tisch, W. G. Imrie, C. B. Idle, N. G. Saunders, C. E. Allen; secretary, Mrs F. Laws; treasurer, Mrs A. E. Ludecke.
