TV SETS ON H.P.
Average value of television set hire purchase transactions last year fell by just over 14 per cent, according to a survey by the Department of Statistics. Goods sold on hire purchase during the December quarter rose £900,000 in value to £12.5m compared with the December quarter, 1963, a survey on selected businesses shows. Sales of television sets in the December quarter fell £150.000 in value to £BOO.OOO on sales made during the September quarter. Sets sold on hire purchase fell 15 per cent in this quarter but the value of the sales was 7.1 per cent higher compared with the same quarter in 1963, while sales rose about 25 per cent. Average Amount The average amount of hire purchase agreements in the last quarter on television sets was £ll6 while on motor vehicles it was £337. Hire purchase sales on motor vehicles during the December quarter were £600,000 or 10.7 per cent higher at £5.9m compared with the September quarter and £BOO,OOO or 15.7 per cent higher than the December quarter, 1963. Plant and machinery hire purchase sales rose £300,000 to £l.9m in the latest quarter and household and personal I goods £700,000 to £3.9m.
