Strong Water Polo Side
The Canterbury University water polo team has been named by the sole selector <Mr I. McDonald) for the Easter tournament. With four New Zealand I University representatives, P. Jack, P. Hatchwell, A. McPhail i and I. Gunthorp, the latter three having played for Canterbury, this team should acquit itself well and has a good chance to win the water polo title.
The team is: P. Jack, P. Hatchwell, A. McPhail, I. Gunthorp. J. McLean, D. Bull. B. Cairns. G. Leek, and W. Williamson. The swimming team, although not as strong, contains several well-known names. It is— Freestvle—llo yards: R. Gaskell, p. Hatchwell. 220 yards: D. Staples. W. Pearce. 440 yards: D. Staples. W. Pearce. Breaststroke.—llo yards: W. Smith. J. Riley. 220 yards: W. Smith. H. Jackson. Backstroke.—llo yards: W. Williamson, G. Garlick. Butterfly.—llo yards: P. Jack, G. Garlick. Medlev—22o yards: P. Jack, G. Garlick, W. Pearce.
