LOCAL F.O.L. PRESIDENT

Mr R. A. Hill Likely The secretary of the Canterbury Clothing Trades Union (Mr R. A. Hill) is expected in Christchurch trade union circles to be the only nomination for the position of president of the Canterbury Trades Council of the Federation of Labour.

The position of president became vacant on the death of Mr F. L. Langley.

If there was more than one nomination for the position, a secret ballot would be held at the April meeting of the trades council, said its secretary, Mr S. Harris, yesterday. The vice-president of the council (Mr L. Short) has declined to be a candidate for the presidency.

If Mr Hill is elected as president it will create a vacancy on the executive of the trades council.
