Although experiencing slight falls to some European currencies, the £ strengthened against the Canadian dollar and the Japanese yen'. Altered telegraphic transfer rates as advised by the Bank of New South Wales:— New Zealand on— New York: buy 2.7894 dollars to £N.Z. (compared with 2.7902 dollars on February 22); selling, 2.7579 dollars (2.7586). Austria: 72.45 schillings (72.49); 70.90 schillings (70.94). Canada: 3.0097 dollars (2.9663); 2.9713 dollars (2.9663). France: 13.75 francs (same); 13.45 francs (13.46). Italy: 1752 lire (1753); 1715 lire (1716). Japan: 1010 yen (1008); 988 yen (986). Switzerland: 12.15 francs (12.16); 11.89 francs (11.90). Western Germany: 11.15 deutsche marks (11.16); 10.91 deutsche marks (10.92).
