QUOTAS CHECK
(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.)
LONDON, March 1.
As a check against countries which export butter to Britain sending more than their extra quota allocations, and to ensure that their deliveries are on time, the Board of Trade has made certain stipulations.
For instance, Austria’s basic allocation for the coming 12 months is 1830 tons. She has been allocated an extra quota of 400 tons, to be delivered by the end of November.
But if she has not sent Britain 1000 tons of her basic allocation by the end of November she will forfeit her 400 tons extra allocation.
Figures for basic and extra allocations, and the total to be sent to Britain by the end of November for the countries affected (all tons) are:—
Denmark 12,370 7630 7570 Austria 1830 400 1000 Bulgaria 805 395 405 Denmark 98,420 6000 66,000 Finland 12,370 7630 7570 Hungary 1720 280 1050 Irish Republic 12,905 6000 6900 Netherlands 15,060 5000 9500 Norway 1830 2000 1000 Rumania 325 3200 200 Uruguay 215 600 —
