Chants Enchant The Most

The Chants with 246 votes won the final of this year’s dance band contest at Canterbury Court on Saturday evening. Judging was by audience voting. Six bands competed in the contest before an audience of about 1000. The bands, which were the place-getters in the two preliminary heats, were the Viscounts, Peter, Paul and the Pursuers, Beat Un-Ltd, the Chants, the Phantoms, and the Kor Tels. Peter, Paul and the Pursuers received 147 votes and Beat Un-Ltd were third with 71 votes. Special guest artists for the evening were Ray Columbus and the Invaders.
