From Harry, With Love

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) PARIS, Feb. 28. A new lethal weapon was added to James Bond’s armoury yesterday when a cocktail named after him was christened at Harry’s Bar in Paris. It was the “James Bond,” containing angostura bitters, vodka, champagne and orange juice.

It is reported to be capable of bringing a strong man to his knees quicker than a Beretta 0.25. It also makes less noise. Harry’s is a smoky city rendezvous patronised by expatriate American and English drinkers. It is mentioned in lan Fleming’s novel, “For Your Eyes Only."

The “James Bond” is the second cocktail honouring Secret Agent 007 to be launched from Harry’s. An earlier mixture, known as “007,” has been claiming victims for months. It contains rum (Bond’s naval background), gin (M.’s favourite drink), ginger wine (for Miss Moneypenny) and vodka (Smersh is good for you).
