Returns To Golf Team The experienced representative golfer, C. W. Caldwell, who has not played for Canterbury since 1963 because of illness, won back his provincial place on the strength of his splendid consistency in a trial match played over the last two weekends. Caldwell finished one up in a bogey match played over 72 holes at Shirley, Waitikiri and Templeton yesterday and the previous Sunday. The next best score was eight down. Subsequently, Caldwell was named No. 2 in the Canterbury team to contest the South Is-land inter-provincial tournament at Otatara, Invercargill, on March 6 and 7. R. C. Murray, who will lead the side, and D. R. Hope, the No. 6, played in only the first 36 holes for returns of four down and 11 down respectively. The team for the South Island tournament, in playing order, is: R. C. Murray, C. W. Caldwell. E. H. M. Richards, J. G. Scott, J. L. Hartley, D. R. Hope, D. F. Williams, M. R. Blank. The reserves are I. D. Dobson and R. K. Atkinson. Leading scores in the trial match were: C. W. Caldwell, 1 up; J. L. Hartley, 8 down; D. W. Williamson, 12 down; I. D. Dobson, 13 down: M. R. Blank, 14 down; L. P. Boyd, 14 down; J. G. Scott, 16 down; W. I. Tucker, 16 down; E. H. M. Richards, 16 down: R. B. Townsend, 16 down; T. Hanton, 17 down; I. J. Camp bell, 18 down.
