Obituary

MR A. RAMAGE The death occurred last week in Christchurch of Mr Alexander Ramage, lecturer in woodwork at the Christchurch Teachers’ College for the last 10 years. He was 55. Before coming to Christchurch, Mr Ramage was head of the building department at the King Edward Technical College. Dunedin, and before that was head of the woodwork department at the Ashburton Technical College. Mr Ramage was an examiner in carpentry and joinery for trade certificate examinations. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter. MR L. D. FOOTE ' Mr L. D. Foote, lecturer in English at the Christchurch Teachers’ College, died recently. He was 48. Mr Foote, a former student at the college, graduated B.A. and B.Sc. from the University of Canterbury and served overseas during World War 11. He was head of the science department at Wairarapa College from 1946 to 1959, and head of the English department at the Aranui High School from 1960 to 1962. Mr Foote was appointed to the staff of the Teachers’ College in 1963. He had a wide interest and background in both the arts and sciences, and had travelled widely and taught in English schools. He is survived by his wife and an infant son.
