RACING E. G. Low, Foxy Boy A Good Combination

The Riccarton jockey, E. G. Low, who is having one of his most successful seasons on record, should resume a winning association with Foxy Boy in the Morley Memorial Handicap at Westport today.

Low was the rider when Foxy Boy won an unusual double at the North Canterbury club’s spring meeting last October. Foxy Boy earned full marks for versatility at the meeting following up a win as a sprinter with a victory over a middle distance on the second day. Low has not ridden Foxy Boy in his recent races. At the recent C.J.C. summer meeting his mount was Andalusia, which beat Foxy Boy by inches for third in the Provincial Handicap. Riccarton form can hardly fail to prove of value for the Morley Memorial, even if success eludes Foxy Boy. Totara Lad and Morris Francis are a likely pair, both on 8-3. Totara Lad was the highweight winner on the second day at Riccarton. Dowling’s Mount Morris Francis, in his lone start at the meeting, ran fifth in the Midsummer Handicap. It was fair form considering he beat Foxy Boy that day and finished not far behind Llanmai, which won the Provincial Handicap three days later. J. R. Dowling has been engaged to ride Morris Francis. A field of eight is expected for the Morley Memorial. Approval was still at Riccarton yesterday morning, and according to his trainer, E. B. Skelton, the Alonzo gelding will be kept for the second day of the meeting. The T.A.B. double is on the Morley Memorial and the Dal ray Hack Handicap. Charlborough has dropped out of both races.
