TWO FARM AWARDS

WELLINGTON, Feb. 16.
The Meat Board announced the award of two Sir Walter Mulholland Fellowships. One award is to Mr T. D. Quinlivan, veterinarian in charge of the New Zealand Romney Marsh sheep survey, and the other to Mr R. J. Townsley, research assistant of the department of agricultural economics and farm management at Massey University. The Sir Walter Mulholland fellowships were established by the Meat Board and are administered by the University Grants Committee to encourage graduates to enter fields of particular interest to the agriculture and food processing industries. They provide up to three years’ post-graduate study or research at overseas institutions.
Mr Quinlivan, who holds the degree of bachelor of veterinary science from the University of Sydney, is study-
ing reproduction in the Romney sheep. He proposes to read for the degree of doctorate of philosophy in the University of Sydney. Mr Townsley proposes to study modern methods of statistical analysis at the University of lowa.
