C. McElwyn Works Well At Forbury

(New Zealand Press Association)

DUNEDIN. .1 The Victorian trotter, < Corop McElwyn, was the only i horse to work at speed at < Forbury Park this morning. His time for a mile and a ] half was not outstanding, but 1 he impressed by the manner : in which he sprinted over 1 the last half-mile. '

Corop McElwyn has improved out of sight in recent workouts and appeared to be trotting well within himself in covering a mile and a half in 3min 29 l-ssec, the final half in Imin ssee and the last quarter in 30 l-ssec.

The horse is at present being looked after by R. H. Robinson, of Dunedin, but his trainer, G. Gath, is expected to arrive from Melbourne tomorrow.

Corop McElwyn again showed signs of lameness be-

hind when he first appeared on the track, but pulled up satisfactonily after his workout. The Australian horses, Palpitate and Blazing Globe, were confined to slow work as were the newcomers, Our Eileen, Whaka, Golden Ego, Garcon d’Or, Ali Bey, and Scotleigh.
