MR LAKE ILL

(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, February 17. Because of a chill on the kidneys, the Minister of Finance (Mr Lake) has been advised to remain at his home in the meantime, where today he was continuing his

ministerial work.

He is under medical observation, but no time has been placed on his period of enforced rest. Medical authorities say there is no connexion between his present indisposition and the heart ailment he experienced when in Melbourne in 1963. Mr Lake has had to cancel a visit to Christchurch this week-end. He was to have attended the Woolston school centennial celebrations on Saturday night, and was to have represented the Government at the New Zealand surf life-saving championships at New Brighton on Sunday. At both of these functions his place will be taken by the Minister of Works (Mr Allen). He was also to have attended Arts Festival functions on Sunday and Monday, but in neither case would have been the principal Government speaker.
