WOOL FIRM IN SYDNEY
Third Day Of Sale (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, February 17. On the third day of the Sydney wool sale, series No. 12, there was strong general competition, the principal operators being the Continent, Japan and Eastern Europe, with good support from Britain and, at times, Australian mills, the official report said. Values, when compared with the previous day, were in sellers’ favour for Merino fleece of finer quality, while all other descriptions of Merino fleece and skirtings ruled fully firm. Keen Demand Comebacks, crossbreds, and carding wools also met a keen demand, and rates for these were well maintained at late rates. Spinning quality ranged mainly from medium-broad to medium-fine, with a small percentage of the finer types, and for the most part free from or carrying only light vegetable fault Prices were: good 56’s, crossbreds, 64|d; good average 50’s, 63d.
