Jubilee Plans

The Canterbury Workers’ Educational Association will celebrate its jubilee this year. Arrangements for celebrating the beginning of its work were discussed at the annual meeting last evening. The first event of the programme will be a dinner on April 8. The first meeting of the organisation was held a week before that date 50 years ago. The president (Mr A. A. Dingwall) said the association was hoping to invite many older members to the celebrations. The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) had been secretary for 28 years and Miss M. B. Howard, M.P., was the daughter of the first secretary, Mr E. J. Howard. Officers elected were: president, Mr A. A. Dingwall*, vicepresident, the Rev. D. J. Inglis.
