Smoke Bombs
(N.Z. Pres* Association) GISBORNE, Feb. 16. Flying-boats dropping smoke bombs at East Cape yesterday to mark schools of fish for a fishing methods demonstration were believed to have caused the report from shore observers of a burning launch. Chief Inspector R. A. Moore said today. It was thought the Trade Wind, the fishing boat which approached the smoke bomb, was towing a dinghy. Men probably boarded the craft to empty it of water.
