Dairy Board Party For Caribbean

NEW PLYMOUTH, February 16.
A Dairy Board party, including Mr L. D. Hickford, Okato, will leave next week for a three weeks visit to the Caribbean.
Mr Hickford and the deputy chairman of the board, Mr R. A. Candy, will also visit Washington for talks with United States government authorities on the disposal of United States surplus dairy produce. The board’s director of
marketing, Mr S. Murphy, will also go to Washington. Discussions will be held with Argentinian authorities on matters of mutual interest in exports. Messrs Hickford and Candy will leave on January 27 for Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad. Both are directors of Caribbean companies in which the Dairy Board has interests. They will be joined in the Caribbean by the board’s export sales manager, Mr H. T. Jones, and its technical director, Mr P. T. J. Toomey. Messrs Jones and Toomey will follow a different itinerary from that of Messrs Hickford and Candy. New Zealand supplies the Caribbean with butter, natural cheese, processed cheese, milk fat and milk powder. The board has marketing companies in Trinidad and Jamaica.
A milk condensory is being built in Jamaica to make condensed milk from New Zealand milk products.
