CRICKET TOUR
Bartlett May Go Little Information could be obtained yesterday on a report that G. A. Bartlett, the Canterbury fast bowler, might be added to the team which sets off next week for a tour of India, Pakistan and England. Bartlett was chosen for the team but the New Zealand Cricket Council’s Board of Control, after closely studying his medical report, rejected him on medical grounds. Asked if there was a move to add Bartlett to the team, the chairman of the New Zealand selection panel (Mr J. G. Leggat) declined to comment. Asked if the size of the touring team would be under consideration again, Mr Leggat said that was now, and always had been, the concern of the Board of Control. The chairman of the board (Mr J. L. Kerr) said he could not comment when he was asked if a meeting of the board soon was contemplated. The Pakistan cricket team left Christchurch by air last evening. It played 10 firstclass matches in New Zealand, defeating Wellington and Canterbury. The remaining matches, against New Zealand (three), Otago, Auckland, President’s XI, Northern Districts and Central Districts, were drawn.
