PARLIAMENT PROROGUED

Decision In N.S.W. (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, February 3. The New South Wales Premier, Mr J. Renshaw, today announced in Labour caucus that the State Parliament would be prorogued for a month—from February 16 to March 16. Constitutional authorities eaid that proroguing of Parliament meant that the present session, which was to have resumed on February 16, had now ended. Mr Renshaw made the announcement during a 30-minute meeting of caucus —one of the shortest for years. Mr Renshaw’s announcement ends the speculation that Parliament would meet on February 16 to elect the new Speaker to replace Mr Ray Maher, who faces a charge in quarter session of Indecent exposure. Mr Maher has denied the charge.
