F.O.L. CALLS CONFERENCE

Fire Brigades’ Dispute The national executive of the Federation of Labour, meeting in Wellington this week, decided to invite representatives of New Zealand fire brigades unions to a conference in Wellington on the afternoon of Monday, February 22. This decision was taken after the executive discussed the dispute which threatened a limited strike of fire brigadesmen in Auckland, North Shore, Christchurch, and Timaru just before last Christmas. At the request of the F.O.L. this action was postponed until further discussions could be held Mr G. T. Walker, of Christchurch, national secretary of the federation, who attended yesterday’s meeting in Wellington, had no comment on the F.O.L. invitation yesterday.
