Six Hurt In Collision

Six persons—five of them members of one family—were taken to the Christchurch Hospital early yesterday morning after a colision between two cars at the corner of Yaldhurst road and Carmen road.

The occupants of one car were Mr Charles Newman, of Pukeokahu, No. 2 R.D., Taihape, his wife Mrs Caroline Newman, and their two children, Charles and Caroline and Miss Bernadette Newman, of 76 Douglas street, Timaru. Both Mrs Newman and Miss Newman were admitted to hospital. Miss Newman suffered facial, chest and suspected internal injuries. Her condition last evening was described as fair. Mrs Newman, whose condition is satisfactory suffered concussion,' shock, head and chest injuries.

Mr Newman and the two children and the driver of the other car, Mr John Sinclair McKernan, of 100 Hunter terrace, Cashmere, were treated for minor injuries and discharged.
