Incompetent Driving (N.Z. Press Association) GREYMOUTH. After the running of the Fox Glacier Handicap at Greymouth last night A. J. Rodgers, the driver of Don’t, was fined £2O for incompetent driving. At the conclusion of the Fox Glacier Handicap, an inquiry was held into the racing manners of Vandemetre, driven by T. K. Becker. After hearing Becker, it was decided to declare Vandermetre ineligible to race at any totalisator meeting until February 8, 1965, inclusive.

During the preliminary of the Okarito Handicap Walnoni Jim, driven by R. P. Nyhan, pulled a shoe. He returned to the birdcage and was found to be lame.

Nyhan was ordered by the stipendiary stewards to scratch his horse from the race. Investments were refunded.

After the running of the Greymouth Cup an inquiry was held into the racing manners of Linda Marie, trained by O. M. Quinlan and driven by J. A. Carmichael.

It was decided to declare her Ineligible to start at a totalisator meeting until February 14, 1965.

After the running of the Jacksons Bay Handicap an objection was lodged against the second placing being awarded to Highland Hame, driven by K. Purdon, on the grounds of interference to Royal Charter, driven by D. C. Watts, over the concluding stages of the race.

After hearing the evidence it was decided to relegate Highland Hame to fourth and promote Hoana and Royal Charter respectively.

Before the running of the Gold Coast Handicap the stipendiary stewards instructed the club’s veterinary surgeon to examine Last Beam. The horse was passed fit to race.
