AUCKLAND STARTER

Mr B. H. Morris, of Christchurch, has been appointed starter for the Auckland Racing Club and the Avondale Jockey Club. Mr Morris has been starter for the Canterbury Jockey Club since 1956, but will probably have to relinquish that position because of conflicts of dates with the Auckland and C.J.C. autumn meetings. Mr Morris officiated at the Auckland Cup four-day meeting, which ended last Saturday. Mr L. G. Morris, a brother of the Auckland club’s new starter, has been the starter at Trentham for several years.

As young men both were successful jockeys. Mr B. H. Morris was private trainer to the late Mr H. M. Glazebrook for some years before he took up starting.
