VICTORIAN PACER
U.S. Offer Rejected (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE. The owners of the champion Victorian pacer, Perfect Hanover, have rejected a substantial offer by a syndicate of United States businessmen to buy the horse.
The owners, a Bendigo bus!-, nesswoman, Mrs D. Lyne, and Mrs E. V. Wills, wife of the trainer-driver, K. Wills, have declined to disclose the offer.
The syndicate also has put out "feelers'" for Rising Flood, and Dale’s Gift.
The offer to buy Perfect Hanover was made at the Melbourne Show Grounds last Saturday night after he had won the Summer Handicap from 24 yards behind scratch, recording a mile rate of 2mm 9 l-ssec.
"But we decided not to sell him. He means a lot to us, and we have great faith in his future potential,” Mrs Lynne said.
Perfect Hanover’s best performance so far was at the Show Grounds on November 14 last year, when he won the £2500 Invitation, beating Dale’s Gift and Minuteman, winner of the 1964 Inter-Dominion Championship.
