RUNAWAY TAXI

Child Injured In Auckland (A’.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 7. A driverless runaway taxi mounted a footpath and ran on to a grass area in Symonds street early this afternoon, hitting against a table on which a three-year-old boy was playing. The force of the impact threw the boy, Devon Campbell, clear of the table and he landed on the bonnet of the car.

The table, jammed between a tree and the car, was smashed.

Devon, the son of Mr and Mrs B. N. Campbell, of 19 Waddell avenue, Pt. England, was admitted to Auckland Hospital suffering from concussion and suspected internal injuries. His condition tonight was satisfactory.
