Queen’s Guide Award
The Queen’s Guide award was presented to Lois Elliott, of the Ist Cheviot company, at a break-up party held by guides and brownies in Cheviot. It is the first such award to be gained in the district. The Provincial Commissioner for North Canterbury (Mrs J. H. Powell) made the presentation. Among those at the function, which was held at the home of Mr and Mrs A. G. Luttrell, were Mrs A. Scillitoe, a girl guide visitor from Bristol, Mrs H. T. Grigg, Division Commissioner for North Canterbury, and parents and friends. Items were given by brownies and guides. A donation was made to Freedom from Hunger Campaign.
