AUSTRALIAN WOOL

Cheque Less This Season (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CANBERRA, Jan. 4 Australia’s wool cheque for the five months ended November was £20,400,000 less than for the same period last year. This is revealed in figures issued by the Commonwealth Statistician (Mr K. M. Archer). The figures show that in the five months ended November, Australian exports of wool were worth £139,200,000, compared with £159,600,000 last year. All of Australia’s major wool export markets have played a significant part in the decrease.

Japan, the leading customer, reduced her imports of Australian wool by £4,000,000, the United Kingdom and France each £8,000,000, and Italy £3,300,000.
