United Holds Soccer Lead

LONDON, December 27. Manchester United just managed to hang on to the English League leadership yesterday, by winning, 1-0, at Sheffield United. Chelsea had briefly regained the top position earlier in the day, beating Blackpool, 2-0, at home. Manchester United (36 points) leads Chelsea and Leeds by one point. Leeds, whose manager caused some surprise by ordering his team to report for training on Christmas morning, dropped a home point against Blackburn Rovers. ENGLISH LEAGUE Division One.—Arsenal 3.
