LONDON, December 27. Manchester United just managed to hang on to the English League leadership yesterday, by winning, 1-0, at Sheffield United. Chelsea had briefly regained the top position earlier in the day, beating Blackpool, 2-0, at home. Manchester United (36 points) leads Chelsea and Leeds by one point.
