SHIPS TRAPPED BY THE FROZEN ST. LAWRENCE SEAWAY.—A Chinese deckhand on a ship from Formosa gazing inscrutably at the Toronto waterfront. His ship is one of three foreign vessels which have to remain in Toronto throughout the winter because they missed the deadline for clearing the St. Lawrence Seaway, which is now closed by ice. The ships may be ice-bound until the end of March or early in April.
