CONFERENCE IN SEOUL

Malaysia Still To Accept (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) KUALA LUMPUR, December 25. Malaysia has still to declare itself officially on the proposed South-east Asian Foreign Ministers’ meeting called by the Government of South Korea. The April meeting in Seoul has been advertised in Kuala Lumpur as a preliminary for a new Asia anti-Communist grouping. On hearing this, the Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, said Malaysia was not interested, since the federation was not against communism as an ideology, but only against aggression, from whatever quarter. The Korean Foreign Minister, Dr. Tong Lee Won, has just concluded a three-day visit to this country. After discussions with the Tunku and his Deputy, Tun Abdul Razak, he told reporters he was sure Malaysia would attend the meeting, which would merely be a meeting of standing allies to discuss common problems. Countries invited to attend the Seoul conference are believed to include Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Formosa, Japan, South Vietnam and Thailand.
