Jones A Double International
Unlike the former world 100yds record holder, E. McDonald Bailey, the British sprinter, T. B. Jones, has made a successful entry into professional British Rugby League football. Jones, a member of the British relay team which set a world record of 40sec for the 4 x 110 yards relay in London in August, 1963, became a double international when he played for Great Britain against France
at Perpignan recently, scoring a try. Jones signed as a professional with the Wakefield Trinity club only last April. The fee was understood to be about £6OOO. Jones, aged 24, is the third well-known sprinter to play in a Rugby League test in recent years. The present Australian wings are K. J. Irvine, the world professional 100yds record holder, and M. Cleary, the 1962 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist.
