(N.Z. Prrsi 4ssoctarion> GREYMOUTH. Dec. 25. “I rate Canterbury’s Geoff Pyne as a truly tremendous young athlete and feel that he would be the man to break Ron Clarke’s new world record for the three mites.’’ This was stated by the Australian miler, K. Wheeler, in Greymouth yesterday. Wheeler beat the United States Olympic finalist, T. Farrell, and J. L. Davies over 880 yards in Christchurch last Saturday. The Otago three-miler, P. Welsh, and the Canterbury sprinter, A. G. Steel, were two other athletes who impressed him.
