NEAR TRIPLE DEAD-HEAT
Missed £5OO By A Nose (From Out Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. Dec. 23. The Greymouth Jockey Club narrowly missed collecting the £5OO which is offered by Photo Finishes, Ltd., for a triple dead-beat. In the third race on the first day of the meeting last week-end. Wahalla and Madras dead-heated for fourth and Lord Jester was only a nose away. So it was by this smallest of margins that the club failed to gain a sum of money which would have proved most welcome in view of the poor on-course turnover. There were several very close finishes during the two days. In the first event on the second day there was a nose between first and second and a similar margin between second and third. There were two thrilling finishes to the main events each day when Picket prevailed twice by a nose over Morris Francis.
