RECORD BID
2-Mile Run By Clarke (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Dec. 22. The Australian runner, R. G. Clarke, will attempt to break the world two-mile record in Sydney on January 2. The record of Bmin 29.65ec is held by Michel Jazy, of France.
Clarke has performed spectacularly in Australia and New Zealand since his disappointing runs in the Tokyo Olympics. He set a world record for three miles at Melbourne earlier this month when he took 2.4 sec off the record M. G. Halberg set in 1961.
