Clyde-Ilam Area
Sir, —To whomsoever it may concern, there are three matters affecting the amenities of the Clyde-Ilam roads shop centre that require attention. First, the amount of litter left about, especially at week-ends. Second, the obscenities scrawled on the palings by the “in” bus-stop, which are definitely not worth preserving for posterity, or even for the edification of the kindergarten establishment a few yards away. Third, the deplorable spectacle of neglect presented month after month by the frontage of 376 Ham road. The fact that this property is untenanted does not seem any valid reason why something should not be done about it. Indeed, had the property been anywhere more in the public eye you might have had a good deal more than just one letter of protestation.—Yours, etc, ILAM. November 12, 1964.
[The chairman of the Waimairi County Council (Mr J. I. Colligan) comments: — “Items one and three of the correspondent’s letter will be attended to and item two has been put in the hands of the police.”]
