Churches Plan
Several
The largest of the many annual youth conferences end camps which will begin soon all over New Zealand will be held in Christchurch. This is the Presbyterian summer conference, which will begin on December 26 at the Heaton Street Intermediate School and in which more than 500 young persons will participate. The Church of England will divide its inter-diocesan youth camps into North and South Island groups. The site for the South Island camp is the Taieri aerodrome, about 25 miles south of Dunedin. The North Island camp will be held in Marton. The Churches of Christ youth camp will also be in Marton. A Christchurch minister (the Rev. R. M. O'Grady) will be one of the leaders. Mr O’Grady is the assistant general secretary of the New Zealand National Council of Churches. The Methodist camp will be held in Napier, at the Boys’ High School. The Society of Friends conference, in which every member of a family may participate, will be held in Auckland.
Several youth groups will hold their camps and conferences shortly after Christmas. These include a student movement, which will meet at Knox College in Dunedin, and the Girl Guides’ Association, whose camp will be at Lincoln College. The Salvation Army will hold its camp a little later, from January 2 to January 19 at Akatarawa, in the Hutt Valley.
