Winter Games

TOKYO, December 22
Sapporo, a winter resort city on Japan’s northern-most island in Hokkaido will launch a bid today to hold the 1972 Winter Olympics. Sapporo made a bid for the 1968 championships three years ago, but lost to France. Canada and Norway are also expected to try for the 1972 Winter Games.
