PARTY FOR BLIND

21 Children Attend

Twenty-one blind or partly blind children attended a Christmas party at the Foundation for the Blind in Bristol street on Saturday afternoon. Brothers, sisters and parents also attended.

Local organisations contributed funds for the party, which included a toy train, a penny trail, a Fairy Queen who gave away toys and a visit from Father Christmas. “Contributions will be used to benefit blind children only.” said Mr G. F. C. Ashdowne, manager of the Foundation for the Blind in Christchurch. “Although money has been spent on the party, one of the year’s highlights. the rest will be spent during the year.” Mr J. Hoare, president of the foundation’s parents’ committee, thanked the contributors and organisers for their work. Contributors were:—The Hornby Working Men’s Club, the crew of the Holmlea, the Saxon Hotel (Lyttelton), the Leeston Hotel and the National Airways Corporation.
