Irate Punters Blamed (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, December 16. A. Mulley, one of Australia's leading jockeys, is in hospital suffering from a nervous breakdown, it was announced today. Mulley, who has been the target for a number of recent outbursts by disappointed punters, is likely to be in hospital for a month. His wife today blamed thoughtless punters for her husband’s illness. "Every time he loses a race people make him feel like a criminal,’’ she said. Mulley is also suffering from a stomach ulcer. He has been in hospital at Taree, on the New South Wales north coast, for a week.
