Top-Class Forward Returning To Chch.

M. R. Dunne, one of Canterbury's outstanding forwards between 1958 and 1961, is expected to be playing club Rugby in Christchurch again next year.

Dunne probably will play for University for whom he played when he was in Christchurch. An engineer, Dunne has accepted an appointment with the Drainage Board. One of the most experienced forwards in the South Island, Dunne represented Wellington B before he moved to Christchurch in 1957 to begin his university studies. He represented Canterbury from 1958 to 1961 and also played for the South Island and for New Zealand Universities. When he left Christchurch he first played for Marlborough, in 1963 for Wellington and last year for North Otago. When he first came to Christchurch, Dunne was an exceptionally fine flanker but later he moved into the lock position. His return to Christchurch should greatly strengthen the Canterbury team which this season lacked the driving type of forwards like Dunne.
