Test Match In Christchurch

The Australian Olympic cycling representatives, G. Johnson and D. Perkins, will make three appearances in Christchurch during their New Zealand tour. The tour will begin at Invercargill on Saturday and will end on January 23. Johnson, aged 18. is the Australian sprint champion He has recorded wins over the Perth Empire Games title winner, T. Harrison, and the former world amateur champion, S. Bianchetto (Italy). The 19-year-o!d Perkins is the Victorian tandem titleholder and was third in the Victorian sprint championship behind Johnson. He won the 1951 Victorian 500 metres time trial and the 1961 junior sprint championship. The Australian tour includes four tests. V. Newlove (Auckland) and P. Robinson (Southland). both Olympic nominees, will represent New Zealand in the first test at Invercargill on Boxing Day. The other tests will be at Palmerston North, Christchurch, and Invercargill. The itinerary is:—

December 19. 22. 24: at Invercargill; December 26 first test at Invercargill; January 2 at New Plymouth; January 7 second test at Palmerston North January 9: at Nelson; January 12: At Wellington: January 14: at Lower Hutt; January 15. 16: at Christchurch, third tesi January 18: at Tlmaru; Janu ary 19: at Christchurch; Janu ary 20, 23: at Invercargill, fourth test.
